From February 2022 many of the legal restrictions around measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 were lifted in England. This doesn’t mean that coronavirus has gone away. We will have to learn to live with COVID-19 for the foreseeable future, managing the risk for ourselves and others. The key message moving forward is to continue to be cautious and retain some transmission controls to varying degrees at varying times.
Following our ongoing risk assessments at St Catherine's the following points are now in place :
1. There will be no mandatory need to book a place at Mass- parishioners can attend Church without pre-booking a place but will still need to give their details to the stewards on entry inline with track and trace requirements. There is no need to use the QR code scan any longer.
2. Seats are no longer allocated and parishioners can choose where to sit freely but we kindly ask that you respect the wishes of others and those who are clinically vulnerable
3. We will continue to provide hand sanitiser at entrances and exits.
4. We still expect parishioners to wear face coverings unless medically exempt
5. Stewards will maintain a standard of good general cleaning with attention to frequent touchpoints before and after Mass
6. Social distancing - social distancing will no longer be a legal requirement but we advise people to be responsible and sit within their own household/bubbles whilst in Church
7. Kneelers still not in use
8. No Holy water in stoops/no sign of peace
9. Communion to be taken in the hand- people should exercise good responsible behaviour especially when moving to receive Holy Communion during Mass and should avoid getting too close to each other
10. Good ventilation of Church
11. Singing will be phased in gently as part of worship and face coverings should be worn by members of the congregation whilst singing together, until infection levels reduce.
12. If you are unwell please stay home
